Temecula’s Old Town Boardwalk Enhancement Project to start construction

Measure S

The City of Temecula is pleased to announce Greer’s Contracting & Concrete, Inc. has been awarded the contract for the long awaited Old Town Boardwalk Enhancement Project. The project will remove and replace Old Town’s wood boardwalk planks and replace them with enhanced stamped colored concrete sidewalk. The installation of the concrete sidewalk will reduce ongoing maintenance costs and provide a more uniform walking surface for pedestrians exploring Old Town Temecula. There will also be improvements to the landscaping with the addition of new street trees. Once completed, the new sidewalks will be in accordance with the Old Town Specific Plan and allow easier access to all residents and visitors discovering all of the treasures that Old Town has to offer.

The City anticipates breaking ground in summer 2019; construction is estimated to take 6 months to complete. The improvements will be constructed in phases to keep pedestrian traffic flowing through the various project sites around Old Town. Project status updates will be issued while construction is underway in an effort to keep residents, pedestrians and motorists informed of traffic pattern changes and progress.

The total project cost is estimated to be just under $458,000. Funding for the project comes from several sources including Measure S and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.

To kick off the project, the City of Temecula is hosting a community celebration on July 25, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. located at the Parking Lot on Sixth Street in Old Town. The public is invited to learn more about the project details.  Head down to Old Town and Walk the Planks In Style!
