The Temecula Valley, with its beautiful scenery and quaint Old Town, was the perfect inspiration for artists participating in the 11th Annual Ralph Love Plein Air Competition. The City of Temecula Community Services Department invites all local artists to participate by painting works of art inspired by local scenes over one week. Nine artists submitted original art for a chance to earn a prize in Temecula’s 11th Annual Plein Air Competition.
The anonymous, unsigned pieces were judged at the Temecula Valley Museum by esteemed judges, Barbara Nelson (Best of Show 2017 Winner); Bonnie Martland (artist and former art teacher at Temecula Unified School District); Fred Lamb (Fred Lamb Graphic Design and former art gallery owner); Buzz Siler (owner of Siler Gallery); and Tony Moromarco (artist, instructor, and owner of Bigfoot Graphics). Scorecards were carefully tabulated to determine the winners, this year including a three-way tie for 3rd Place.
The art pieces were hung in The Gallery at The Merc for the official announcement of the winners at the First Friday artist reception on Friday, November 2, 2018.
