Using a Cell Phone
When you call 911 from a cell phone in Riverside County, a Riverside County Sheriff’s dispatcher will answer and route the call to the proper authority. To directly reach the City of Temecula Emergency dispatch, call 951-776-1078 instead of 911 (from your cell phone only). Please save this number in your cell phone.
Using a Landline
If you call 911 from your home, business, or public phone, the law enforcement agency that has jurisdiction will respond to the call. In most cases, that will be the Temecula Police Department, which contracts with the Riverside Sheriff's Department.
How Emergencies Are Handled

Emergency Response Program
The Emergency Response Program handles all fire, life, and environmental emergencies within 5 minutes.
If a paramedic is requested, a fire truck will automatically be dispatched as well, since the Fire Department is responsible for extrication of an injured person, whether from a car or a residence. The paramedic's responsibility is to administer medical attention.
Should the City of Temecula officially declare a state of emergency due to a natural disaster or an unforeseeable circumstance, the following locations have been designated for evacuation:
