Level Placement Guide
For all levels, parent in-water participation is required.
Preschool: Yellow Starfish (Ages 2-5)
(Equivalent to Learn-to-Swim Levels Beginning and Advanced Toddler)
Prerequisite: None
Objective: Water Adjustment and Fundamental Swimming Skills
PARENT IN-WATER PARTICIPATION REQUIRED. SEE DESCRIPTION BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION.
This class is for beginning to intermediate level swimmers ages 2-5. Instructors focus on encouraging student to be comfortable in the water and prepare students to swim independently by teaching skills which are fundamental to the swimming process. Skills include: blowing bubbles, putting face in the water, supported floats on front and back, alternating arm and leg actions, as well as age appropriate water safety topics.
*Due to physical distancing requirements, with the safety of our students and instructors in mind, one parent/guardian will be required to be in the water for each lesson. Instructors will be present on deck instructing students and parents in skills, while parents will be working 1-on-1 with their child. Classes will be set-up and conducted so that all participants are at least 6-8 feet apart.
Youth Level 1/2: Green Guppies (Ages 5+)
(Equivalent to Learn-to-Swim Levels 1 and 2)

Youth Level 3: Blue Dolphins (Ages 5+)
(Equivalent to Learn-to-Swim Level 3)
Prerequisite: Completion of Level 2 OR the ability to glide on front and back AND swim on front and back for at least 3 body lengths.
Objective: Beginning Stroke Development
PARENT IN-WATER PARTICIPATION REQUIRED. SEE DESCRIPTION BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION.
This class is for intermediate level swimmers ages 5 and up. Instructors will build on the foundational skills taught in previous levels with the goal of developing fundamental stroke mechanics for improving swimming. Students will begin to swim longer distances, learn rotary breathing, elementary backstroke, treading water and age appropriate safety topics.

Instructors will be present on deck instructing students and parents in skills, while parents will be working 1-on-1 with their child. Classes will be set-up and conducted so that all participants are at least 6-8 feet apart.

Note: If enrollment is made into a class that is not at the child's ability the Aquatic Office cannot guarantee that space in another class will be available. If you are unsure of the appropriate level we recommend taking the swim level assessment.
