Council Member Michael McCracken

Council Member Michael McCracken and his family moved to Temecula in the mid-1990s. He is a retired U.S. Navy Veteran who served on four ships, including the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan. During his 24 years of service, he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Achievement Medal (4 bronze stars), Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal (silver star), Combat Action Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal and Kuwait Liberation Service medal just to name a few.

Michael McCracken arranged for U.S.S. Ronald Reagan crew members to adopt the Ronald Reagan Sports Park while he was deployed in the Persian Gulf. He is the founder and President of Veterans-Temecula Valley and a volunteer for Veterans Supplemental Support Network. He is also an Advisory Board Member of the Friends of Ronald Reagan Sports Park and has volunteered at the USO in Ontario.

In 2007, Michael McCracken was appointed to the City of Temecula’s Community Services Commission and served as its Chairperson twice during his tenure. Commissioner McCracken became the City’s cheerful ambassador at many of its community events. In 2015, Michael was selected from a wide field of candidates to fill the City Council seat which became available when Councilman Chuck Washington was appointed to the Riverside County Board of Supervisors.

In addition to his Military service, Michael McCracken has over 15 years’ experience working as an Education and Career Technician for the Marine and Family Program at Camp Pendleton which provides counseling to military personnel, family members and civilians. He values education and enjoys working with families.

Council Member McCracken’s love for the City and desire to give back is what motivates his desire to serve its citizens. During his term, he would like to attract new businesses, improve higher education opportunities, and foster a safe, family-oriented community.
